Eid-e-Milad Holiday Shifted to Sept 8 in Mumbai Region

The Government of Maharashtra has officially announced a change in the public holiday for Eid-e-Milad in Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts. Originally scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025, the holiday will now be observed on Monday, September 8, 2025 in these two districts only.

This decision comes in light of Anant Chaturdashi, a significant Hindu festival that falls on Saturday, September 6, 2025. To avoid potential logistical and security challenges due to processions from both communities occurring back-to-back, a meeting was held with Muslim organizations on August 21, 2025. Following the meeting, the Muslim community agreed to shift the Eid-e-Milad procession to September 8 in a show of communal harmony and cooperation.
