During his address, the Union Minister highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in preparing a framework to promote Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) in the agricultural sector, aiming to empower small and medium farmers to benefit from carbon credits. He emphasized that integrating farmers into the carbon market would not only benefit them but also expedite the adoption of eco-friendly agricultural practices. Furthermore, he urged cooperation from concerned ministries, states, and organizations to promote the carbon market for the welfare of farmers.

Recognizing the vital role of agriculture in the nation’s economy, the Minister emphasized its significant contribution, with 54.6% of the country’s workforce engaged in agricultural and allied activities.
