The Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970, necessitates that every shopkeeper or employer apply for registration of their shop or establishment under this Act. Similarly, it requires renewal of the registration certificate for their shop or establishment after three years from the date of issuance. However, the state government, aiming to enhance the business environment and facilitate the ease of doing business, has eliminated a section of the Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970, through an amendment dated May 15, 2021. Consequently, there is no longer a mandate for shopkeepers or employers to seek registration of their shops or establishments under this Act. This amendment is currently effective in the state of Tripura. This notification was published on 26/04/2024.
