The Medical Council of India (MCI) on June 25, 2019 has notified the commencement of Establishment of Medical College Regulations (Amendment), 2019, thereby amending the existing Establishment of Medical College Regulations, 1999.
The amendment empowers the Board of Governors in super-session of MCI and Central Government to consider the grant of permission for establishment of a new Medical College or renewal of permission of existing Medical College to the lower prescribed intake capacity. Any Medical College, who falls short of the intake capacity requirement as per the
Minimum Standard Requirement Regulation, may apply for the grant of permission for lower prescribed intake capacity and shall be permitted only after submitting an undertaking that such medical college accepts the reduced intake capacity.
