Notice for removal of difficulties in the implementation of the EPR Guidelines for Plastic Packaging

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued a notice for removal of difficulties in the implementation of the EPR Guidelines for Plastic Packaging. This notice was issued on 7th June, 2023.

The CPCB has now taken the following measures to facilitate the implementation of the EPR Guidelines:

  1. Provisions for accounting of plastic packaging sold by producers to unregistered brand owners, for assessment of EPR target, have been made on the EPR portal. Provisional EPR target shall be generated at the time of registration. The final EPR target shall be provided during the annual return filing based on provision of complete details of sale to unregistered brand owners. This facility is available to producers who register on the EPR portal up till 30th June, 2023.
  2. The timeline for supply of plastic material by plastic raw material manufacturers to unregistered producers falling in MSME category has been extended up to 30th June, 2023. Such supply of raw material may be done on proof of submission of application for registration on the EPR Portal.

All Producers, Importers, Brand Owners (PIBOs)/ Plastic Waste Processors (PWP) are required to comply with the said guidelines for effective implementation of the EPR Guidelines.

RECENT UPDATES
