1. Public Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act

The Government has declared a detailed list of public holidays for 2026, which will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. These holidays are applicable to:

  • All Government offices
  • All Commercial Banks
  • All Co-operative Banks
  • State Government Undertakings, Corporations and Boards

2. Government Holidays for 2026

All Tamil Nadu Government offices will remain closed on:

  • All days listed in the official notification (except Annual Bank Closing Day on 01.04.2026)
  • All Saturdays and Sundays of the year 2026

3. Annual Bank Closing Day

On April 1, 2026, Commercial Banks and Co-operative Banks will observe a special closing day for annual accounts — applicable only to these institutions.
