The Government of Telangana, through the Commissioner of Labour, has announced a revision of minimum wages for all scheduled employments across the state, effective from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
This revision follows the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures declared under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, which form the basis for calculating the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) applicable to workers in different sectors.
CPI Figures Declared for the Half Year Ending June 2025
As per the official press note issued by the Commissioner of Labour, Telangana, Hyderabad, the average State Industrial Workers Consumer Price Index has shown a marginal increase, while the agricultural index remains unchanged.
Details of Index Changes:
- Part I – Industrial Workers: Increase of 2 points, from 1939 to 1941
- Part II – Agricultural Workers: No change, remains constant at 1492 points
These CPI figures will be the benchmark for determining the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component of wages for the upcoming half-year period.
Applicability Period
The revised indices and corresponding wage adjustments will apply for the period:
📅 01 October 2025 to 31 March 2026
This means all workers employed in scheduled employments notified under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, in the State of Telangana will receive wages adjusted according to the new CPI-based VDA rates.
Purpose of Revision
The half-yearly revision ensures that minimum wages remain aligned with inflation and cost-of-living fluctuations faced by workers. It is part of the state’s commitment to protecting the real income and welfare of industrial and agricultural laborers.
Conclusion
With a modest increase of 2 points in the Industrial Workers’ CPI, employees across Telangana can expect a slight upward revision in minimum wages for the October 2025–March 2026 period. Agricultural workers’ wages, however, will remain unchanged for now due to a stable index.
