TN Issues New Amendments to Catering Establishment Rules

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued significant amendments to the Tamil Nadu Catering Establishments Rules, 1959, strengthening compliance norms related to labour welfare and language usage in the hospitality sector.

These changes are made under the powers conferred by Section 29 of the Tamil Nadu Catering Establishments Act, 1958 (Act XIII of 1958).

📌 1. Mandatory Labour Welfare Fund Details

  • Revised Form No. I now requires employers to confirm payment to the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund for the previous year.
  • Must include:
    • Online Payment Receipt Number
    • Date of Payment

🪧 2. Compulsory Tamil Name Board Display

  • Catering establishments must display their name boards in Tamil as per Rule 42-B.
  • Employers must attach a photograph of the displayed Tamil name board as proof of compliance.

🖊️ 3. Complete Form Submission Required

  • The earlier note, “This form shall be completed in ink in block letters or typed,” is replaced with:
    • All the columns in this Form must be filled mandatorily.”
