UP Government Revises Minimum Wages and VDA for 74 Sectors from October 2025

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has notified a revision in minimum wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for workers engaged in 74 scheduled employments, effective from October 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

This revision is based on a rise in the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 216 (base year: 2001-100) during July–December 2012 to 414 during January–June 2025.

🧱 Special Wages for Brick Kiln Workers:

Wages for workers in the brick kiln industry are defined per thousand bricks based on job type and distance. For example:

  • Pathera: ₹211 per thousand
  • Loader (Up to 500m): ₹211 per thousand
  • Loader (Above 500m): ₹253 per thousand
  • Withdrawal: ₹211 per thousand

🏭 Industries Covered Under Revised VDA:

This notification also applies to workers in:

  • Rubber and plastic product industries (including tyres, tubes)
  • Confectionery production
  • Aerated drinks and fruit juice manufacturing
  • Plywood manufacturing
  • Petrol and diesel pumps

📌 Implementation:

The revised wages are mandatory for all listed employments. Monthly rates are calculated based on 26 working days, and hourly wages are not less than 1/6 of daily wages.
