Kerala Revises Variable Dearness Allowance for Shops and Software Sector Based on July 2025 CPI

The Government of Kerala, through its Labour and Skills Department, has announced the revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for employees in the Shops and Commercial Establishments and the Computer Software Sector, as per the provisions of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

The revision follows the publication of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) Numbers for July 2025 by the Department of Economics and Statistics, vide Notification No. DES/1129/2025-P3(1) dated 26th September 2025.

🔍 What is VDA?

Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) is a component of wages linked to the Cost of Living Index, adjusted periodically based on changes in the Consumer Price Index Numbers. It ensures that real income remains stable despite inflation.
