Assam PCB directs Industries in the state to display a board outside the factory containing information related to effluent discharge

The Assam Pollution Control Board has directed all categories of industries which requires consent from the Board under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974; Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and Authorization under the Hazardous and Other Waste Management and Trans-boundary Movement Rules, 2016, to erect a display board outside the factory gate containing information related to effluent discharge.

Amendments to Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Bill cleared by Cabinet.

The Finance Minister has introduced the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020 in the Lok Sabha on 05-02-2020 for dispute resolution related to direct taxes. On 12-02-2020 has introduced certain amendments to the bill. The government proposes to widen the scope of the Bill and cover cases pending before debt recovery tribunals and also certain search and seizure cases.

Income tax rules amended to clarify the term unauthorized colony

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has published Income tax Amendment (6th Amendment), Rules, 2020 on 17th February, 2020 to clarify that the term “unauthorised colony” used in the rules shall have the same meaning as assigned to it in the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Act, 2019.

The Government of West Bengal publishes The West Bengal Lifts, Escalators and Travelators Act, 2019.

The Government of West Bengal vide notification dated 10th January, 2020, has published the West Bengal Lifts, Escalators and Travelators Act, 2019 by repealing the old West Bengal Lifts and Escalators Act, 1955.The Act regulates the installation, maintenance and safe working of lift and escalators and all machinery and apparatus pertaining in the state of west Bengal. The new act, in addition to the above, brings travelators within its ambit.

The Government of A.P instructs buildings of educational institutions to ensure sustainable environmental management, waste management & rainwater harvesting

The industrial sheds, Schools, Colleges, Buildings of educational institutions including Universities in A.P need not obtain Consent for Establishment (CFE) and Consent for operation (CFO) from APPCB as they were exempted from the purview of Environmental Clearance. But, these buildings shall ensure sustainable environmental management, solid and liquid waste management, rainwater harvesting and may use recycled materials such as fly ash bricks.
